Tutorials / Saving Presets
![]() In my Metal Letters Tutorial we had to enter a lot of parameters into the "sculpture" window. A friend told me "Why don't you do a tutorial on how to save presets?". So here it is. This tutorial works with Paintshoppro 6 and later. Have fun, and if you have questions please don't hesitate to send me an e-mail. Open a new picture("File"/"New", 200x100 pixels, background white, foreground white, resolution 72 p/inch. ![]() Activate the text tool. ![]() Center the floating text in your graphic window. ![]() Now click "Image/Effects/Sculpture". ![]() Enter the parameters as you see them on the graphic below. ![]() Click on the "Save as" button below the preset menu and enter a descriptive title ("MyPreset" is not a very good title but shall only be an example for a name you would like to chose). Click "OK". ![]() If you open the preset menu you will notice that your new preset is in the list, and from now on you can use it simply by clicking on it. ![]() Now comes the most interesting bit: If you open your Windows Explorer and go to your PSP preset directory (usually you will find it at c:\program files\Paint Shop Pro 6\presets or equivalent) you will find a new file called "MyPreset.psc" (of course only if you called your new preset "MyPreset"). You may notice that there are other files with different endings in this directory. They are for different function presets, for example "Inner Bevel" (PBV) or "Tile" (PTL). This means that you can design your own presets and send them to your friends to share them with them. ![]() This finishes the "Saving Presets" Tutorial.
